FAQ

PPF consists of an ultra-thin polyurethane or polymer transparent layer which is applied directly over the top of the vehicle’s paintwork. This disposable skin protects a vehicle from harsh scratching, stone chips, and various other damage, typically seen on higher value/ racing cars.

Paint Protection is directly hand applied in liquid form to a vehicle’s prepared surface to create a permanent chemical bond to each molecule of paintwork. It then over the next 24-48hrs cured to a hardness of 9H to protect a vehicle from scratching, oxidisation, acid rain/ water etching, staining and contamination. Our Paint Protection can be applied to any surface on a vehicle exterior, whereas PPF cannot.

Both carbon and ceramic tint are made from different materials to serve different purposes. Carbon tint is a lower grade and more affordable range of tint. Whilst it does carry the same UV protection as ceramic tint, it does not exhibit the same heat rejection and solar energy rejection properties as ceramic tint. Ideal for clients wanting their windows tinted on a budget.

Ceramic tint is our top-of-the-line tint. Whilst it is slightly more expensive, it does contain many safety features like UV protection, heat rejection and solar/ red energy protection. Not only does ceramic tint protect you whilst you’re in the vehicle, but it also helps to protect your vehicles interior from sun damage, cracking and fade.

There is still a lot of confusion out there over what to look for in paint protection. So, here’s our quick summary to a quality product;

  • You ideally want a product that is not accessible to the public, this means the product is DIY and is not professional grade. A company should be able to provide certification of professional training and completion.
  • You want to know the T&C’s, what does your aftercare guide look like? What things void your warranty? It should NOT be a long list.
  • Does it come with a Nationally Recognised Lifetime Warranty? If not, its most likely not a permanent product.
  • Products which require a ‘top-up’ after 12-18months is a tell-tail sign that it may not be a permanent protection.
  • You want to look for a product with a high reading on the paint hardness scale. 9-10H preferably. What is a paint hardness scale? Read below ->

It’s a scale in which paint hardness is graded. 0-10 are the parameters.

0-H means the paintwork is extremely soft and very susceptible to scratching, staining, oxidisation and rapid deterioration.

10-H is the opposite, meaning the paintwork is extremely hard, making it difficult to scratch/ mark, it has a high tolerance to deterioration and staining.

For the most part, vehicles paintwork can range between 3-6H on this scale, which is on the lower end of durability. So having a protection with a high curing hardness is paramount to ensuring the longevity of your vehicles finish.

No, it is still important to wash and maintain your vehicle on a semi-regular basis as you would any other vehicle. Firstly, the main difference you will notice, is the car will have less dirt build up from the get-go as the super slick coating prevents dirt and debris from sticking to the paintworks surface. And secondly, dirt will melt off the vehicle with minimal cleaning effort cutting washing time in half and using exponentially less water.

The answer is it really depends on the situation. A ceramic coating will help soften the damage because of its hardness rating. However, the size, speed, and angle which a stone comes into contact with your vehicle are all factors which will determine whether it causes any damage.

Permanent ceramic coatings are designed to withstand chemicals to a certain degree. However, the more a vehicle is exposed to extremely acidic or basic chemicals it was gradually weaken the coating. Which is why it’s important to always use PH neutral washing soaps and non-aggressive cleaners when taking care of your protected vehicle.
